DANGOTE PLC Current Automatic Career Opening to First Class Graduates

The pan-African conglomerate, Dangote Group, is offering automatic employment to first class graduates of Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, the organisation has announced. Already, seven students of the university graduated with first class in the last academic year.

A statement from the Group said the gesture was part of the contributions of the company to the development of education and to motivate the students to be serious with their education. The statement further quoted the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibrahim Garba, who visited the Northern Office of Dangote Group, as expressing appreciation from the university to the Group, which he also noted had donated N100 million to the university as well as helping to launch an appeal fund to give the school a facelift. 

The statement signed by the Group Head Corporate Communication department of the Group, Anthony Chiejina, indicated that the vice-chancellor commended Dangote Group for its support in the provision of electricity in the school, construction of a 1000-bed space hostel and the establishment of the Dangote Skill Acquisition Centre, among others.
Contributing, the Dangote Group's Regional Representative (North), Alhaji Isa Tata Yusuf, explained that the N100 million donation showed the deep concern of the Group’s President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, about the state of education in Nigeria.

"The N100 million donation to the school is meant to support the effort of President Goodluck Jonathan and state government in the development of education in the country," Yusuf said while noting that "last year the conglomerate spent about a billion in the rehabilitation of some of our universities across the country."

Last month the Group supported the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with a million naira. It also gave a whooping donation of $500,000 to victims of explosion in the Republic of Congo. The Pan-African conglomerate had expended a staggering N15.5 billion in 2011 as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) works through the Dangote Foundation.

The statement quoted Alhaji Dangote as saying: “About this philanthropy, I think from this year, I personally want to take it very seriously. I want to be much more aggressive than what we have had in the past.”
According to him, “We already have a Foundation which will do all these things, but I am trying to see what we can do to encourage, not only Nigerians, but other Africans.” He added: “I am not going to give all my money to charity, but I am going to try my best and give part of that money to charity. I am working hard on it.”

The statement said the Dangote Group donated N118 million for the construction of the squash complex at the main campus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and N50 million to the University of Port Harcourt. Dangote Group also gave N100million to the proposed Otuoke University in Bayelsa State to enhance smooth take-off of the tertiary institution.

Speaking the company’s Group Head of Human Resources, Mr. Pramjit Pabby, added that the conglomerate believed that Nigeria could only sustain its developmental effort if the youth-who are the leaders of tomorrow- are well-educated. He noted that the group runs the Dangote Academy in Kogi State to support government’s efforts in human capital said.
